I was very unhappy with the way I looked and how unfit and inflexible I had become. I decided I needed help and after looking for a local gym with a holistic approach I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Richi in March 2018.

I started out with personalised 1:1 sessions and Richi ensured that I did each exercise correctly and would adapt exercises when necessary. I was quickly encouraged to attend Hiit sessions which I was nervous about as I was so unfit and some exercises I couldn’t do, but Richi was reassuring and there are always modified moves suggested. I was also anxious about exercising with others, but I need not have worried as all the members are friendly and supportive.

I had been pescatarian for over 30 years and in October 2017 I changed to plant based (vegan). However, you can be a junk food vegan and I was! Some foods are accidently vegan such as hobnobs and crisps! Richi encouraged me to limit less healthy foods (he knows I could not entirely cut out) and whilst vegetables contain protein along with beans, lentils, quinoa, nuts and oats, Richi explained that I needed to increase my protein intake to aid my weight loss program as protein would fill me up and help avoid unhealthy snacking. I now add protein powder to some of my meals such as in smoothies. I also reduced my caloric intake and exercise portion control.

I am thrilled that to date I have lost 2st of body fat!; my progress has been slow because I do ‘cheat’ but I am happy with the pace. I am much happier, healthier and stronger and cannot believe that I would ever say that I enjoy going to the gym which I do.
